Selma Gürbüz completed her education at the Exeter College, Britain and at the Painting Department of the Marmara Academy of Fine Arts, Istanbul. She opened solo shows in many international art centers, among them Istanbul, London, Paris, Barcelona and Buenos Aires. In addition, she was invited to the Istanbul Biennial, the Prague Biennial and the Kwanju Biennial organized in South Korea. Gürbüz, who is represented by Galerie Maeght, one of the most prominent galleries of Paris, opened her most recent exhibition at the same gallery in 2006, which also included a series of lithography edited by Maeght. Thus, the works of Selma Gürbüz were included among the prints of Matisse, Picasso, Bonnard, Renoir and Miro which were translated into life at the gallery of Aimé Maeght, a close friend of André Malraux, who worked in collaboration with him on “reproductions” that constituted the main idea of his famous dream, “Imaginary Museum”. Selma Gürbüz continues working in Istanbul and Paris.
