Ankara, 1968

Elvan Alpay, attended the Hüsamettin Koçan atelier of the Marmara University Painting Department in 1986. She obtained her master’s degree at Marmara University after working for a short while at the Salzburg Academy. She opened her first solo show in Ankara in 1990. Others followed in Ankara and in Istanbul. Her three dimensional works, contrasting the familiar art objects, are also exhibited in group shows at various international art centre, among them Cologne, London, Düsseldorf, New York and Paris.

Lately, Parisian art viewers have also seen Alpay’s solo exhibition at the Galerie Le Monde de l’Art. Elvan Alpay is represented in several public and private collections in Turkey and as well as at the Fondation Cartier Collection in Paris. Alpay lives and works in Istanbul.
